Naming Ceremony Celebrant on the Mornington Peninsula

Celebrant Services for Symbolic Naming Ceremonies

In a backyard at Frankston, a garden at Mount Martha or on the sand at Mornington. Amanda Morgan writes baby naming and change of name ceremonies from scratch, for families right across the Peninsula.

Individualised Naming Ceremonies

There is no question that names are an important part of our identities. The names we are given—as well as the names we may choose for ourselves—are a fundamental part of how we express who we are to ourselves and to others.

Baby namings and change of name ceremonies are deeply personal experiences, but they are also public celebrations of identity. As a celebrant, I take great joy in being part of naming celebrations. As with the funeral and wedding services that I offer, I am honoured to be chosen to help officiate naming services, and I am open to a range of requests to help you personalise my services to match your vision for the event. From small and intimate private family ceremonies to large gatherings that officially welcome a new baby into the world, I can help you with naming events of any size or theme.

Individualised Naming Ceremonies, Written From Scratch

A naming ceremony is your chance to say out loud what this child means to you, in front of the people who will help raise them. Amanda builds every ceremony around your family's story, your names and your traditions. Nothing borrowed, nothing generic.

Symbolic Naming Ceremonies

The naming services that I offer are not legally or religiously binding; instead, they are symbolic celebrations that affirm a new identity. While not all parents formalise the process of naming their children, baby naming days are a unique opportunity to welcome a new little one into a family and community.

And for those who choose to take on a new name later in life, a symbolic change of name ceremony is a wonderful chance to celebrate the choice to express oneself and come into one’s own identity. No matter what type of occasion you wish to celebrate with a naming in the Mornington Peninsula area, I am here to help you make your event a success.

Whether you are looking for something formal or something quite casual, I am happy to offer unique, personalised services to meet—and exceed—your needs and requests.

Cost-Effective Ceremonies in the Mornington Peninsula

I want all of my services to be accessible and reasonably priced, and for that reason, I offer all of my celebrant services at a highly affordable, competitively-priced rate. My standard fee for naming ceremonies is AU$300 + GST. Typically, this includes:

Initial meeting with the parents or guardians of the baby (or, in the case of name change ceremonies, the individual who wants to celebrate a new name). This meeting usually lasts for approximately 1 hour, but I am also flexible to communicate with you via phone, email and/or Skype if you have any other questions or logistics you would like to discuss. Attendance at the ceremony itself. Depending on what type of ceremony you would like to have and what you want to include, I can help deliver the naming ritual and participate in other services, at your request. The descriptions above are for my standard naming ceremony package, but please keep in mind that these are guidelines, not rules! If you have other specific requests or would like to customise my baby naming or change of name services to suit your circumstances, please feel free to contact me to discuss what you have in mind and I will be happy to work with you to find out how I can accommodate your requests.

Local Knowledge From Someone Born and Bred on the Peninsula

Mornington Peninsula scenery

Amanda isn't a fly-in-fly-out celebrant, she grew up here. That means she already knows the parks, foreshores, halls and quiet gardens that work best with small children. It also means she knows the practical side: shade, parking, pram access and how long a toddler will realistically last.

Use Heat Styling Responsibly

05

When blow-drying, begin by drying the extension bonds and surrounding natural hair using a low to medium heat setting before styling as desired.

To protect the integrity of the hair, never use hot tools exceeding 200°C (392°F). Consistent heat protection will help maintain softness, shine, and longevity.

Protect Your Hair While Swimming

08

Chlorine, salt water, and prolonged moisture exposure can affect the condition of your extensions.

If you swim regularly, wearing a swimming cap is highly recommended. While it may not be the most glamorous accessory, it is one of the most effective ways to protect your investment and extend the lifespan of your hair.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much does a naming ceremony on the Mornington Peninsula cost?

Amanda's standard fee is AU$300 + GST. That covers the first chat, a planning meeting of around an hour, writing the full ceremony, and delivering it on the day. Anything beyond the standard package is discussed and agreed with you first.

  • Is a naming ceremony legally binding?

No. A naming ceremony is symbolic rather than legal, which means you have complete freedom over the words, the setting and who takes part. It sits alongside your official birth registration rather than replacing it.

  • How old should the child be?

There is no rule. Amanda has held ceremonies for newborns, toddlers and children starting school. Whenever it feels right for your family is the right time.

  • Can we choose godparents?

Yes, and you can call them whatever suits you. Godparents, guide parents, mentors or special friends. Amanda writes the promises around whichever term you choose.

  • Can an adult or older child have a naming ceremony?

Absolutely. Change of name ceremonies are becoming far more common, and they carry real meaning for the person at the centre of them. Amanda writes these with exactly the same care.

  • How far in advance should we book?

Around two days is usually enough, though earlier is always easier, particularly for weekends over spring and summer.
